Creating a Common Foundation in Care using the ECC (CCFC)
This was a LEONARDO project, building on the product of the first ECC project which developed and tested the BESCLO and the ECC exam. In 2009-2011 our subsequent task with a larger partnership of 16 nations was to spread the use of the ECC across Europe, to develop an online version of the exam and to establish it as the principle entry level award in the care sector. This we have done with considerable success.
We are looking for Lead Partners in new countries to join the ECC and we want to secure the recognition of the ECC within the developing European Qualification Framework (EQF).
We wanted to have information on more than 1,200 holders of the ECC award listed on our central Brussels database by the end of the project (2011) and to have strong ECC delivery partnerships in as many EU member states as possible. In fact we exceeded this target and had details of more than 3,500 candidates who had sat the exam by October 2011.
